Megan & Jack ~ Dancing by Moonlight
This is a digital painting of *someone*(portrayed by Megan Mullally) dancing with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). She is dancing with him by request from a friend.

I've been working on off and on since early summer of 2007. I've been so busy doing house remodeling for the past year and a half that I've been unable to do any conventional art & after FINALLY getting my drawing tablet up and working (I had to replace my defunct computer last fall & I had to add a serial card to make my tablet work again ~.~) I decided to work on a digital picture.

I'm REALY CRAPPY at drawing digitally, so I decided to get some help. I've been using some tutorials by Sirasan as a guide for doing Megan and Jack. The ship & ocean is basically me just experimenting with things.

The following is sort of a step by step look at what I've done so far...

These are some of the sketches I did before settling on the pose I used. They are pretty rough, but I think are an interesting view at some of the scary stuff I came up with at first. lol
I used the second drawing of Megan pictured here and the drawing of Jack that is to the right. The nice thing about digital is that I can add and change things MUCH EASIER than on paper. =)
After resizing this to a larger format I used the tutorials mentioned above and began to color the image.
Originally I was going to have them dancing in a big room in front of a large window. After being viewed by some friends of mine, it was suggested that the room needed some other people in it. I agreed and the room developed into a dancehall/pub scene with them still in front of the large window.

To the right is the window I drew. Unfortunately it's a hard to see after being scaled down.

To the right is an updated version of my drawing and the same drawing inserted into the room with a rough sketch of some curtains added.

I couldn't decided on what color I wanted the curtains to be, so that's why there’s a purple bit amongst the red.

The more I worked on this picture the more I disliked the background, so I deleted it and started over. Instead they are dancing by moonlight on the Black Pearl. I like this version WAY BETTER than the previous one.

The ocean was a happy accident and I REALLY like how it came out. The Black Pearl is roughly sketched in to be painted later.

To the left is where I've started to block out the areas where the ropes will be.

To the right is where I've begun to paint in some of the ropes of the rigging.
Here I've added the sails, given the ship a deck and painted a lot of the ship.
At the top of the page is where I've given Jack some pants.
