Iella Dancing

This is another drawing of Iella from my comic/story. Here she is dancing in a clearing. In the beginning of my story she is helped by a band of traveling entertainers and joins them for a short while. And in case you were wondering, yes, she is the same character as in my other drawing. She has the ability to change form, though at this point in the story she doesn’t know that.

The original sketch for this was done in the Summer/Fall of ’03. It was updated 2/13/05 before being colored. I had gotten some watercolor pencils and was eager to see if they colored smoother than regular colored pencils. While they were an improvement, I regret to say that I was unable to achieve the details & color I wanted. I went over the ‘marble’ border with regular colored pencils to achieve the color I was aiming for. I also used a blending stump, which I just learned about, to blend the colors. The drawing was finished 7/8/05.

Despite the graininess of the paper white showing through, I think this came out pretty good. I think it would have came out nicer if I had used better paper &/or put it on watercolor paper and blended the colors with water. I guess this is what happens when you’re too lazy to copy the picture to better quality paper.
