Heather & Johnny
This is a photomanip/digital painting of my friend Heather & Johnny Depp. She had just broken up with her boyfriend, so I drew her a picture of a new one for her birthday. She's a Johnny Depp fanatic.... so, needless to say, she liked it. This was a fun, but challenging project. The images I had to work with weren't the best and required A LOT of tweaking. I then did quite a bit of digital painting to get the look I wanted. Neither was wearing any makeup, so all that is digital. Heather's hair is also mostly digital (her real hair is quite a bit shorter). Pretty much every inch of them both got painted over. The original background I had given the picture was black, which looked cool on the computer but printed horribly. I kept getting a 'cut out' effect around the subjects. This was the most frustrating part. After SEVERAL hours trying to 'fix' my printer that was working correctly. I added the background and a soft 'atmosphere' to the whole thing & it turned out fine.

Looking back I think I would have blown up the original pictures more before the painting was done. This was an accident on my part & by the time I realized what I had done, I had already put a substantial amount of work into this & didn't want to start over. As a result the image isn't quite as sharp as I would have hoped for.

The final printout was matted and framed & now resides on the headboard of Heather's bed.
