Crystallographic Balance

Crystallographic Balance - Balance with equal emphasis over an entire two-dimensional surface so that there is always the same visual weight or attraction wherever you may look. This is also called 'allover pattern' or 'allover balance'.

This project was done sometime in the fall of 2005 for the class 'Basic Design One'. I don't remember exactly how long it took to make this, but it was probably about six or seven hours. It was made using black construction paper on white drawing paper.

Critique - The finished project creates a good figure ground relationship, with your eyes switching between the black and white shapes.

Grade - I got full points for this project, which gave me an 'A'.
