Narsus

This is a picture of the imperial strategist Narsus from 'The Heroic Legend of Arislan / Arslan Senki' Anime. Originally it was part of a bigger picture that I did for my Heroic Legend of Arislan E-Rpg fan art page. It was going to be a fade type thing that went from an actual professional picture on the left, to a colored fan drawing as it went to the right, and then blended into a pencil sketch. In the mean time my niece, Ami-chan, did a REALLY COOL picture for the header of the page so this one was pretty much put it in my 'do it later' file and forgot about. I ran across it MUCH later and decided that I would just ink in Narsus & color him alone. The original also included Arslan sitting to his left, but I only drew half of him, so I cut that part off.

It was drawn sometime in the spring of 2000. I colored it quite a while later in the spring of 2002 and finished on 4/3/02. It was inked with Millennium pens and colored entirely using colored pencils. It is a copy of a pose done by a professional artist (I reversed the view in my version.). The background was from a postcard and was added digitally along with the shadow under him.

While drawing it I kept thinking something was wrong with the original and one day it just hit me... They gave him TWO LEFT HANDS!!! ((Has anyone else noticed this? Look at the picture to the right to see what I'm talking about.)) I just cracked up as a big grin spread across my face. It made me feel good that even the pros, who make all this look pretty easy, mess up once in a while. Maybe someday someone will pay me a lot of money to draw screwed up pictures too. ... Just joking ^_~.

I really liked the way this came out. It really looks like, at least to me, he's sitting on that cheep postcard mountain. I'm not real happy with the way his eyes came out, but it was a little hard to get in as much detail as I would have liked to in the scale I drew it in.
