Seiyruu no Miko - Through the Looking Glass

Medium: Colored Pencil/ Crayon / Digital
Size: 8.5" x 11"

This picture was inspired by a story I found on line called "Through the Looking Glass". This is an 'alternate universe' story in which the heroines, Miaka and Yui, from Fushigi Yuugi have swapped their roles in the story. This picture is my version of Miaka as Seiyruu no Miko.

I actually drew this picture quite a while back. I think it was the fall of 2000, but I'm not sure. I started to color it late summer of 2001 and finished in January of 2002. I colored most of the picture with colored pencils. The flesh color was done using my scratch off method. I started to draw some sort of water effect under Miaka's feet. I really had no idea what to do with the background and my niece suggested it. Unfortunately it turned up looking EXTREMELY CRAPPY so I digitally erased it and put in the warp effect that is there now. I also had to do quite a bit of clean up work on Nakago's face. I think those two mess ups are why it took me so long to finish it, but over all it doesn't look too bad.

I'm still not quite happy with the way the background looks and looking back think I could have done a better job on the drawing part.
