My Wedding Cake

.
This is the wedding cake I made for my wedding. Unfortunately the pictures I have don't do it justice. ::Sighs:: It actually turned out very pretty.

Before I had done this, my idea of decorating a cake was putting some icing and ‘funfetti’ all over it. No talent required for that ^_~. But due to a lack of funding to have someone else do it, ((I had a very LOW BUDGET, but extremely nice wedding. It's amazing how much you save doing just about everything yourself.)) I decided to give it a try myself. I had been working in a cookie store and had quiet a bit of practice decorating cookies & figured I could put something together. After making a trip to the local cake/candy supply store and loads of advice from the staff there, I picked out a cake in a 'Wilton Cake Yearbook' that seemed simple enough for me to tackle, yet didn't look cheesy. The book was a life saver. It explained simply how to do all sorts of different decorating techniques to put on cakes.

Though, looking back I really don't like the cake topper I made (Don't know what I was thinking on that one.), it turned out pretty much as planned. Considering I had never decorated a cake I take quite a bit of pride in it. I got A LOT of complements on it. Someone was so impressed that they suggested to my brother-in-law, Rod, that I make another one for his wedding.
