About the Artwork and This Site

I have gathered on this site some of the artwork I have done over the years. I have been drawing or doing some sort of artwork off and on since as far back as I can remember. I think my earliest memories of creating something artistic (besides all the Crayola drawings) was doing a project in second or third grade that you had to make something out of hearts for Valentine’s Day or something, so I made this 3-D sculpture that looked like a flower in bloom attached to a stem with leaves and all. I think I gave it to my mom.

I really hadn’t taken up artwork as a hobby till the late 1990’s. I think I was inspired by my niece’s drawings. She is very talented. So I started drawing again. It’s amazing how much I forgot from the high school art class I took and how much came back with time.

I'm going to spare everyone from a lot of my REALLY SCARY early drawings. I was sort of floundering around searching for a style I felt comfortable with. More recently I’ve become more comfortable with what I do but I am always striving for something better so it continuously changes with time. As I complete things I will add them to this site. This will be mostly dependent on my busy schedule and extremely slow drawing style. Basically I’m a perfectionist. Though I am getting a little better with the speed thing, the time problem is another thing.....

I like to call myself an 'Artist of no fixed medium'. The artwork I create reflects this and includes just about anything I can get my hands on.

A lot of my earlier works consisted of mostly drawings in the Anime style. I like to think that the style of my drawings isn't very "Cutesie" like some Anime artists draw. I strive for stylized, yet somewhat realistic drawings. Some of my Anime works contains fan drawings of characters from Star Wars, Fushigi Yuugi, Sorcerer Hunters, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, and others.

More recently my style is a bit more realistic, though not exactly any particular style that I know of. The subject matter of my artwork varies vastly and mostly depends on what mood I'm in or whatever is interesting to me at that moment.

Inspired by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law’s beautiful work with water colors, I have started to paint again. I have pretty much no clue what I’m doing and am learning through trial and error, various on-line tutorials, and a couple of TV shows on PBS that my mom told me about.

After several years of thinking 'one day I'll go..' I've FINALY returned to school to take a few art classes. I'm doing this around work, so it will take me a while to get through all the classes I want to take. So far I've taken Basic Design, Drawing 1, and Photography 1. I plan to continue taking classes and hopefully all the hard work I put into the classes will be reflected in my artwork.
